Module 4 · How Birth Type Affects Oral Function
Aiyana Holistic Services Module 4 · How Birth Type Affects Oral Function
Before We Begin

Your birth story
matters here

This module is about how birth type can affect your baby's oral function and feeding. Before we start — a moment to reflect on your own experience.

🌿

A moment before we start

This module is not about blame. How your baby was born was not a choice you made lightly. Whether you had a planned C-section, an emergency section, a ventouse delivery, forceps, or a straightforward vaginal birth — your birth experience is valid, and it is not something to feel guilty about.

What this module gives you is understanding. Because knowing how birth affects oral function means you can seek the right support — without ever having done anything wrong.

This module covers how different birth types can affect your baby's oral tension, tongue function, and feeding — and why bodywork may be as important, or more important, than any other intervention.

Takes about 3 minutes · Reflection format · No right or wrong answers

Step 1 of 2 — Your Birth Experience
Which best describes how your baby was born?
You can select more than one if relevant — for example, if you had a long labour followed by an instrumental delivery.
🌸 Vaginal birth Spontaneous or induced
🏥 C-section Planned or emergency
Ventouse / Kiwi Vacuum-assisted delivery
🔧 Forceps Instrumental delivery
Step 2 of 2 — What You've Noticed
Think about your baby right now
Tick anything that applies. This is just for you — nothing is saved or scored.
My baby seems to hold tension in their neck — they prefer looking one way
Feeding difficulties haven't fully resolved even after other interventions
The back of my baby's tongue seems to be the problem — not the tip
My baby had a difficult or long birth — and I've wondered if that's connected to feeding
No one has mentioned the birth as a potential factor in my baby's feeding difficulties
My baby had a frenulotomy but feeding didn't improve as expected
I've been told there's no tie — but something still doesn't feel right
I haven't been offered any bodywork or manual therapy for my baby
